Here’s a sneak peek of one of the raw images 🙂

I have found that the days I don’t work from my desk end up being the best days. On Tuesday, I was working on taking pictures for a really cool feature for the Carillon (spoiler alert) on some amazing historical items we have stored away in the library archives. In the process, I got to hold something FDR touched (and signed), look through a 250-year-old book, and—maybe on the not so awesome side—breathe 30 year old air when we took the glass off of a display in the library. Long story short, the bust of Sidney Lanier that we have leased from the city of Atlanta because people in Piedmont Park kept throwing it in the lake (rude) has had a glass case over it since 1985 that we had to remove to photograph it. Turns out air that has been sitting around a bronze statue that’s been in a lake before smells really, really bad. It may be stuck in my nostrils forever… it’s too soon to tell.

Despite the weird smells, Tuesday was a really exciting day. I can’t wait for the Carillon to come out so you can read all about the great stories Oglethorpe’s history holds!
